Jenn went to a belated-birthday dinner tonight at P.F. Chang’s and was kind enough to bring me back an entree. Unfortunately my Kung Pao chicken was as disappointing as all the other faux/nuveau Pan-Asian cuisine I’ve eaten there.
Jenn tells me that the food isn’t supposed to taste like take-out Chinese food and I get that, but shouldn’t it taste somewhat Oriental? I mean, the mealy rice seems suspect and the hot sauces are more southwestern than Pace picante sauce.
I suppose I shouldn’t complain. At least I didn’t have to cook tonight. But still, shouldn’t food from a place called P.F. Chang’s taste like food from a place called P.F. Chang’s?
Seth,
The Chinese food in Nagasaki might have something on P.F. Chang’s grub. Yet it has been Japanized…
