3 Years Gone

Today we remember the fallen, those who were spared and those still in harms way (like my friend Chris and brother-in-law John). Our best course of action is not to wallow in self-pity or simmer in anger and hatred, but to love our families, our friends, our coworkers and commit ourselves to change. Because if we have not yet realized our own individual and collective power to make this world a better place, then we haven’t learned anything.

Today, I’m asking everyone to think about their loved ones, the ones who are gone and the ones who are still here. Kiss them, hug them, tell them you love them. Then ask yourself: What am I doing to make this world a better place? And sometime today or tomorrow, no later than Monday, write down a plan and discuss it with your significant other.

It could be through your church or job; how you vote (and voting matters) this November or how much you give to charity this holiday season. No matter what you do, no matter what your plan: DO SOMETHING. The best gift to future generations, the best way to remember the past, is to leave this world a better place than when we arrived.

What are you waiting for? GO DO IT!
