All In

If ever there were a Poker Christmas, this would be the year. It seemed like everywhere you went there were poker sets, poker tops, poker chips, poker book and poker DVDs. Not being one to pass up a cool trend, I made sure my list to Santa included the obligatory poker gift: nice poker chips. Santa, in the form of my in-laws, was nice enough to deliver 500 chips (with gangsta-styled carrying case), a poker top and an excellent book by Phil Gordon, co-host of Bravo’s Celebrity Poker Showdown.

I’ve got such a poker itch, these gifts might not be able to scratch it. All I need now is a regular game and some beer and I’m all set. Sure, we played some low-limit hold ’em on Sunday, but I want a real buy-in and an actual, live smoke-filled room. I want the tension in the air to be palpable. I want the betting, checking and folding to be tangible. I want to play some poker!

  1. Real buy-in and an actual smoke-filled room? How about this – you give me lots of money (your buy-in), I’ll buy a fog machine (smoke), and you’re set! I might even toss you a beer or two 🙂

I also recieved the “gangsta” poker-set. Just the case, though. No book or table cover. We must play, for I too have the itch bad.

Now, where’d my cocktail waitress run off to?
