"takes years to build and seconds to shatter" then there's also moving from innocents to experience where Christopher is used to living in a rather simple, isolated childhood, and suddenly he's exposed to the adult world of deciet, complex emotions, and how things aren't what they seem. it's also a contrast between the fact that he can't lie to the fact that everyone else around him is lying to him and each other. there's how objective thinking is clouded with emotions, struggles of being/thinking/behaving different, whether it's because of a disorder or not. Also stresses of Disorders in a family. it's the family bond, the difficulties with delicateness of human relationships.
