Kermit the Frog pens a book

Below is a message from Kermit the Frog, via the publisher of his new book, Before You Leap: A Frog’s Eye-View of Life’s Greatest Lessons.

Hi ho! Kermit the Frog here! I wanted all of my ever loyal fans and always wonderful friends at mostlymuppets.com to know that I wrote a book!

It’s true! This September 19th, you’ll be able to read my frog’s-eye-view of growing up green, in Before You Leap: A Frog’s-Eye View of Life’s Greatest Lessons, a book about my life and yours.

Let me explain. Y’see, in the first part of the book I talk about how I got here, from growing up in the swamp and meeting Jim Henson (the man who first held me up for all the world to see) to The Muppet Show and Hollywood era. Yup, it’s finally my turn to answer questions about my youth (e.g. How did a tadpole like me, born one of 2,353 brothers and sisters make his way from the obscure snake-infested swamps of his youth to the, uh, famous snake-infested swamps of Hollywood?) and to set the record straight about that Pig and me.

The other part of the book is all about you. Y’see, I didn’t want to write just another croak-&-tell celebrity book that Hollywood can turn into an award-contending biopic starring someone who looks nothing like me but who tests really well with 14-39 year olds. I wanted to write a book that can actually make a difference in your life, a book that can help you rise above the muck and mire of your own personal swamp and reach for rainbows.

Before You Leap..” is 224 pages, chock-full-of-photos, memories, inspiration, jokes from Fozzie, gripes from Statler & Waldorf, and—of course—rebuttals from you-know-who. But most of all, after 50 years in show business, it’s my turn to ribbet.

I sure hope you like the book. Thanks again for being the Muppets greatest fans year after year. As we frogs say: Time’s sure fun when you’re having flies!

Amphibiously yours,

Kermit the Frog

Aside from the fact that ribbit is misspelled and I didn’t copy the cool image they used for Kermit’s signature, this seems like an interesting book.

Granted, I haven’t read Jim Henson’s posthumous book of aphorisms, It’s Not Easy Being Green : And Other Things to Consider, but I’d like to. Anybody got a copy I can borrow (or, birthday/christmas gift idea for the forward-thinking out there)?

Amazon has Before You Leap: A Frog’s Eye-View of Life’s Greatest Lessons available for pre-order under the title A Frog’s Life: Where I’ve Been And the Lessons I’ve Learned.

I’m supposed to receive a review copy in the mail and I’ll dutifully report back once I’ve read the tome. Expectations are high; this is Kermit the Frog, after all.
