Last week Yahoo! Picks covered one of my favorite topics, Vanity Plates. You know, those personalized license plates that are sometimes meaningful and clever but more often than not cause confusion and derision?

Yeah, I’m fascinated by them. I even thought about creating my own site for everyone to contribute their own Vanity Plate photos a couple of years back.

Turns out, Coolpla8z (Cool Plates) dot com already exists.

That’s nice and all, but I like the more distributed, contributory model of the Flickr Group hot plates, of which I am a contributor.

In the past, I blogged them on a now-forgotten moblog; now I share them with the world as if to say “These people are idiots! Point and laugh!”
