Wednesday Trailer

No, I’m not going to post some inane link/embed to a cool movie of the moment. Instead, I’m going to attempt to interject film references and metaphors into a rundown of my day.

Godspeed.

This morning I got to see a preview of a pilot TNT has produced for Summer 2007. Gritty stuff, but very cool. It wasn’t quite like watching a movie trailer, but the quality of the cast, story and production was not unlike a movie.

I’d say more (such as the title and main star), but I’m fairly certain information has been embargoed and I don’t want to bother PR to ask what I can/can’t say. I’ll leave it at this: the show made me flash on this quote from Akeelah and the Bee which I just saw before New Year’s.

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.

If that’s not an endorsement of the show itself, it’s certainly a big thumbs up for the message and power it’s trying to convey.

That’s Marianne Williamson by the way, not Nelson Mandela. She’s awesome in What The Bleep Do We Know? If you haven’t seen that film, check it out.

Lastly, I’m wearing my “Abide” t-shirt with The Dude on it today. A “dude” who works for TCM saw me in the elevator and told me “great shirt” so my coolness factor is way up there and I’m feeling good.

Bye!

UPDATE I: My co-worker also wore a Lebowski-themed shirt yesterday. He was an Achiever.

UPDATE II: This post was titled “Tuesday Trailer” and was written on a Wednesday. I corrected the mistake today; Thursday.
