Missing You

Skype is no substitute. I miss you, plain and simple.

Images and pictures might placate the kids but your smell and your presence can’t be replicated or duplicated.

Raelyn told me tonight, “I miss Mom” and then did what you told her to do: hug me. She wrapped me up tight and had her brother begging for mercy. Ever the dutiful daughter it was right to bed, no tears, but she loves you something fierce. 😉

Owen is likewise stricken. He ate a bunch, slept a ton and then wouldn’t go down until I played Travis’ My Eyes on iTunes. That song never ceases to get me and it had him too, appropriately for both of us.

Deep in my heart, there’s no room for crying,
but I’m trying to see your point of view
Deep in my heart, I’m afraid of dying,
I’d be lying if I said I’m not

Welcome in, welcome in,
Shame about the weather
Welcome in, welcome in,
It will come
It’s a sin, it’s a sin,
Where birds of a feather, are welcome to, land on you

[CHORUS]
Ya Ya Ya *2
You’ve got my eyes
We can see, what you’ll be, you can’t disguise
And either way, I will pray, you will be wise
Pretty soon you will see the tears in my eyes..

As each day goes by, it makes way for another,
We discover that we’re not alone
And each day we try, the best we can to recover,
All the feelings that we left below

Welcome in, welcome in,
Shame about the weather
Welcome in, welcome in,
You will come
It’s a sin, it’s a sin,
Where birds of a feather, are welcome to, land on you

[CHORUS]
Ya Ya Ya *2
You’ve got my eyes
We can see, what you’ll be, you can’t disguise
And either way, I will pray, you will be wise
Pretty soon you will see the tears in my eyes..

Welcome in, welcome in,
Shame about the weather
Welcome in, welcome in,
You will come
It’s a sin, it’s a sin,
Where birds of a feather, are welcome to, land on you…

[CHORUS]
Ya Ya Ya *2
You’ve got my eyes
We can see, what you’ll be, you can’t disguise
And either way, I will pray, you will be wise
Pretty soon you will see the tears in my eyes.. *3

It’s funny how, when you’re gone, all the ritual and routine are just as much for my comfort as it is for the kids. I only wish you were with me now as I’m typing this, but I know your sound asleep in Leeds.

Sleep well, Jenn. I’ll call you in the morning.
