Separated at Birth: Ron Perlman & Tom Waits

Here’s a fun one that dawned on me yesterday after two meetings.
In the first my co-worker couldn’t come up with Ron Perlman’s name.
In the second I ended up singing Tom Waits’ “I Don’t Wanna Grow Up”

The tale of the tape (now with extra pictures!):

Romeo Is Bleeding Film Song

I don’t think they’re dead-on ringers or anything, but their voices and personalities seem awfully close.

Minor connections/coincidences: As noted above Perlman was in the movie Romeo Is Bleeding (starring Gary Oldman) which took its name from a Waits song. Oldman and Waits appeared in Dracula one year prior to the release of the film version of Romeo Is Bleeding.

Maybe I should have included Oldman as well. He looks a bit like Waits.

  1. Phronsie says:

no, but I think Tom Waits looks a little like Hugh Laurie. MUCH more than he looks like Perlman. Perlman is distinctive for a pronounced jaw.

  2. HowDareThey says:

definitely Hugh Laurie. I’ve seen others who look more like Perlman, can’t think of them off the top of my head, but his pronounced jaw prevents him from looking like anyone who does not have a strong jaw.
