Lucky Number 11

Today marks my hire date anniversary at Turner, my “Turner-versary”. In over a decade of working for the company, I’ve worked six different positions in four departments and two business units.

To say that a career is a journey would be an apt analogy.

I hadn’t thought about it too much – who celebrates either their hire date or an eleventh anniversary (the wedding equivalent is “steel” by the way)? – until I got the following message:

Hi Seth –

I’ve been racking my brain this morning to remember why 10/4 sticks out to me and then finally remembered it was your start date at Turner. I remember b/c it was as in trucker/CB radio chatter “10-4 good buddy.” I absolutely cannot account for how my brain works, but there it is.

At any rate, I hope Turner is treating you well. And sending you and Jenn and family all the very best!

cheers,
mc

The message came direct to my Facebook inbox from a former manager of mine. She was my initial hiring manager and we worked together for about two years before she moved on to Cartoon Network (where she eventually hired and managed my wife). Funny how things work out.

We still stay in touch on Facebook even though she’s no longer with the company. Obviously she still remembers my first day.

Thanks, internet, for letting me feel a touch nostalgic on a Monday.

Also: happy anniversary to me!
