Fitlog Redux

So here’s my yearly post about my weight and fitness and the news is pretty good. Sobering, but good.

You see, despite my connections at the CDC, they say I’m overweight. They’re definitely right, but I’m feeling much better now that I’ve adopted a sensible exercise regimen.

I weight train 3 days a week, I play basketball twice a week and I incorporate some light exercise (mowing the lawn, walking with the family) on the weekend. It’s nice.

I’ve also become somewhat of a serial stretcher. I’m no Madonna during her Yoga phase, but I’ve found that increased flexibility leads to better morning attitudes, better sleep and better, well, you know. Go figure.

The one area that still troubles me is a little soreness in my left knee (my dad has plenty of knee problems) and a very bad bunion on my left foot (gross – I look like an old man). Not the worst, but I’d like to see a podiatrist and maybe an orthopedic surgeon.

All told a solid, healthy Seth in 2006. Toned, looking to become tanned and ready for the Summer.

So now I’m considering a modified version of the fitlog idea I had last year at this same time. Only this time, I’m envisioning some kind of sidebar enhancement or widget that tracks my daily caloric intake/exercise level/diet/weight kinda like a “phases of the moon” thingy. So “Phases of Seth” with a graphic of my fat (thinner) ass as the primary visual metaphor.

Or not.

In total, I’m thinking of scrapping the current self-produced theme altogether in favor of a modified version of somebody else’s code. Something I can hack up real terrible like to suit my ever-changing needs.

Here’s my laundry list of blog “improvements”:

  • Better, categorized blogroll
  • What I’m reading list
  • What I’m listening to list/Last.fm
  • What I’m watching list/TiVoRoll
  • Recent comments
  • Nifty badges/buttons

So yeah, I’ve got some work to do, but my sensible approach to fitness this year is bleeding into the blog redesign. Consistent small steps to victory and change.

Stay tuned.

  1. First of all, I LOVE that I am your connection at CDC. ROCK!

Second of all, you should try the Abs Diet. I have been on it for a couple of months, and I can really tell a difference!
