Part Mop. Part Puppet. All Crazy.
Using knowledge gained from some guys who went to the Lost set on Oahu several weeks ago, Jenn and I - along with her brother, Chris - trekked to the North Shore set of Lost last week.
We visited Papa’iloa beach, primary filming location for the main Lostaway beach, including the graveyard, Eko’s church and the main Lostaway encampment.
Here’s one, just for reading along:
So, in case any of you out there would like to visit the beach (Papa’iloa) yourselves, here are the easy directions:
Here’s a Google map, for a better illustration of the locale.
The guard who talked to us was actually pretty cool. Despite the fact that we were well within our rights to walk the public beach and take pictures onto private property, he could have made life miserable for us if we hadn’t stopped.
He admitted he was only one guy and once he realized we wouldn’t be rude or offensive, he turned a blind eye to some of our photography. All in all, not a bad outcome.
Honestly, since the graveyard and church are set apart from the rest of the set by about 50 yards, we got better pictures of that area since he didn’t want to leave the main set pieces.
Feel free to leave questions or kudos in the comments!

My husband & I want to thank you SO much for your directions to the set…they were right on. We were there last week and it was great to be able to go over and see everything. At first we thought the set looked like homeless people had set up shop there! The first guard we saw at the campsite didn’t say a word to us. We did go further on down the beach and saw where they keep the trailers for the actors and some of the equipment they use for filming. There was a policeman there who came right over in his jeep and yelled at us. He noticed me taking a picture before he came over (I didn’t even see him among all the other jeeps there) and I was really afraid he was going to take my camera or memory card away, but he didn’t. He just said we had to stay on the beach and get out of there. When we walked back past the church and campsite he had driven there and was standing on the edge looking intimidating but didn’t say anything to us so we just kept walking. Also, one big reason we went to Honolulu last week is because we had tickets to the U2/Pearl Jam concert and we saw most of the Lost cast there. We had out picture taken with Naveen Andrews and were no more than 2 feet away from Evangaline and Domenic (I think that’s the name of the guy who plays Charlie) they just ignored us as if we were invisible when we tried to speak to them. Naveen was VERY nice though. We saw everyone else from a distance. Anyway, we wanted to write and thank you very much for the information because it was such a thrill to go there and we never would have found it without you!

I’m a big LOST fan and want to thank you for the information regarding the set location. My friend lives in Wahiawa and was not sure where it was located. Will be visiting soon. This will make my trip well worth all the money.

Nice. I was there last week. Didn’t go all the way, but did most of the beach. Didn’t feel like walking too much. Didn’t see any security, just signs. It was pretty cool to be on the same beach though. I heard of the beach from our fishing captian, because we were out in the ocean next to it fishing.
