New Year’s Eve

30 Dec 2002 In: Non Sequitur

Marking the passage of one year into the next is tedious. Heck, most of
us change in such subtle ways that it takes a major, life-altering
event like marriage or the birth of a child to make us realize what has
happened.
Call me cynical, but the only good thing about New Year’s is the
partying, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing but it is the only thing.
I prefer to look forward and not to look back and this New Year’s I’m
reminded about the incredible promise of the future.
I thought about what I did in 2002 when I wrote my Christmas letter. I
need to get my head around 2003 or maybe even 2010 when I’ll have my
novel/screenplay/diatribe/treatise on world peace written.
Peace.

The Ballad of Bilbo Baggins

18 Dec 2002 In: Non Sequitur

The second installment of the Lord of the Rings movie trilogy, The Two
Towers, opens today in theaters. Jenn and I are going to my
departmental Christmas party, so we won’t be able to attend an opening
day screening. We do, however, have tickets for the first showing on
Saturday.
Since I’m delaying my gratification, I figured I’d reward anyone that
reads this site with a pre-holiday Tolkien gift: Leonard Nimoy singing “The Ballad of Bilbo Baggins”. Truly priceless.

Early Christmas Present

Feel free to write a “caption” in the comments. I’ll pick a winner
after Christmas and link to your site and talk about how wonderful I
think you are and how you should be the de facto President of France.
Here’s my contribution: “Gary Coleman escapes his cardboard prison,
vowing never again to use an agent who would reccomend him for a part
in ‘A Chuckie Christmas’.”

My Daughter’s first picture

5 Dec 2002 In: Rave

This is the most exciting day of my life! Jenn went to the doctor today
to have an ultrasound and the baby that has been growing in her belly
is a girl! Now we have pictures and video to go along with the audio of
her heartbeat. I haven’t seen many sonograms, but as a proud father of
a “daddy’s girl” I can say without a doubt that she is the most
beautiful thing I’ve ever seen.

Holy Shit

Forgive me father, it’s been over a month since I last blogged.
Jenn is now almost 20 weeks pregnant. The ultrasound is a week from
tomorrow, which is Thanksgiving.
Dawgs lost to Tech tonight in basketball but will destroy the North
Avenue Trade School on the gridiron this Saturday. They have a 2 game
winning streak between the hedges and that needs to end.
It’s been so long I don’t know what to say except “goodnight and have a
pleasant tomorrow.”
