The Band

5 Sep 2002 In: Non Sequitur

I desparately want to start a band. I have a modicum of talent playing
guitar and french horn and I was an English minor in school, so the
lyrics I’ve written are better than most. Plus, I sang in Glee Club,
even if it was bass. The problem is I don’t think I have the drive or
ambition.
I mean, look at all the kids on American Idol. All they have are
voices, but they sure have loads of moxy. I’m afraid I’m fairly lacking
in the moxy department. Should I give up and give in before I’ve begun?

blah!

Headache, nausea and general contempt for consciousness, that pretty
much sums up my day. My only joy is in knowing that I added a bunch of
ratings to my ratebeer.com profile. Yippee.
Weekend was fun, if a little uneventful. Thad went to Virginia to join
his ship - he’s truly in the Navy now! My cousin Nate rented a
GameCube. Jenn and I hung out and watched the UGA-Clemson game at a
friend’s new house. Nothing earth shattering.
Lo and behold, the first day of the week always sucks, even if it is
Tuesday. My boss is making me nuts by insinuating that I’m lackadasical
and irresponsible. He’s demanding that I finish a bunch of projects
that were killed months ago. I get the strange feeling he’s trying to
get me to quit. Am I paranoid? Yes, but that’s beside the point.
And what is the point, you ask? Jenn is pregnant and we’re both
overjoyed.
There you have it. Just your run of the mill craziness. Who’s ready for
Wednesday?
BTW, Jenn and I are going to eat dinner with John and Kelly Iacobelli.
Jenn works with John and they just had a kid, so I guess this is like
BP for expectant parents.

Per Se

23 Aug 2002 In: Non Sequitur

This is kind of a non-sequitor, but I once got teased in a high school
psychology class for using the phrase “per se”. The same girl also made
fun of my choice of socks, which happened to be argyle. That was my
freshman year and it pretty much set the tone for my entire high school
career.
Memory is a funny thing. I remember the day and the teasing with
crystal clarity, but I couldn’t tell you that girl’s name to save my
life. Oh well, I don’t really care.
See. A completely random post. My brain is everywhere but here today.

Rev. Buddy Love

Someone is actually linking to me! I know, I know - the excitement is
almost too much.
The inimitable Rev. Buddy Love
has decided that I merit mention on his site. Just for that, I’ll be
adding him to my links page in the near future.
I’ve also promised him mention of the weekend trip Jenn and I took to
Tampa, FL to celebrate our third anniversary. Highlights include
consumption of mass quantities of alcohol, domino-playing, and a trip
to Busch Gardens (and their Beer School).
My buddy, Matt, and I couldn’t stop thinking about Homer’s ill-fated
trip to Duff Gardens with it’s spectacular beerquarium, but that will
be in the next update.

Weird mood

15 Aug 2002 In: Non Sequitur

I’m in a weird mood today. Jenn and I watched American Idol last night
and were floored that Nikki got through. I guess Fox showing her kid
crying got her some sympathy votes.
We did laundry last night and Jenn went to bed early. I stayed up late
watching Good Eats on Food Network. Alton Brown is amazing!

Today, I’m obsessed with beer.
Maybe it’s because we’re going to visit our friend Jen and Matt in
Florida. Matt thinks beer is a food group and I’m inclined to agree.
I’m thinking of bringing him some Arrogant Bastard Ale
if I can get my grubby little hands on it.
