A work buddy of mine lent me a CD by the Jazz trio The Bad Plus yesterday and I am totally transfixed by it. On ‘These Are The Vistas’, this troika of piano, bass and drums sounds like they might fall apart at any second and yet still maintain a cohesive, fun vibe. I’m no jazz afficianado by any stretch of the imagination, but I like this.

By the way, the CD includes three “deconstructions” of pop tunes. Nirvana’s “Smells Like Teen Spirit” (I’m listening to it now), Blondie’s “Heart Of Glass” and Aphex Twin’s “Flim”. Awesome music. Buy it or download it now!
