Heating up

I’m stuck between a bunch of metaphorical choices for the problems Jenn and I had last night:

  • When it rains, it pours
  • Out of the frying pan, into the fire
  • In hot water

I think you’re getting the picture.

Last night we experienced the joys of two, count ’em two, overheated posessions.

First, Jenn called me during Improv class to let me know the air conditioner at home was broken. Again. 8 weeks after our contractually-obligated service call to prevent such a thing from happening.

Figures.

You pay off your credit card debt and what happens? Shit breaks.

At least the on-call guy was able to show up and fix things before 10pm last night so we didn’t sleep in a blanket of our own sweat.

Oh, and while all this was going on, I was stuck at a BP station. The radiator in the Camry has a 3 inch horizontal crack.

I spent the better part of an hour letting the engine cool off and talking to everyone of my relatives on the cell phone. The advice was unanimous: plug the crack, fill the radiator with water and drive to the mechanic.

Luckily, Jenn was done with the air conditioner guy and was able to follow me to the mechanic just in case the car blew up. Which, thankfully, it did not.

So, that’s my “hot” story and I’m sticking to it. Pray for the Camry and whatever the hell the third thing is that will likely overheat in the near future.

Stay cool.

  1. The third thing…

    Ah, threes.
Seems like stuff (shit) always comes in threes. Like waves crashing against the shore or something.
I don’t know, fill in your own metaphor.
So our third thing this week was the air conditioning on the Highlander. Busted. Broken. …
