Muppet Star Wars figures

I might have to wait until the Fall to purchase the upcoming Muppet Star Wars figures, but that doesn’t mean I can’t pine for them now.

After posting a link to the figures on Facebook last week my old friends Erik & Kelly Hess sent me a text of the figures on display at the Magic Kingdom (or maybe Disney/MGM Studios).

They’re down in Orlando for Star Wars weekend.

Thanks for the in-person evidence! Can’t wait for these toys!

Muppet Video Week

If you’ve been forwarded a strange trailer for the fictional film “Green With Envy” this week, don’t worry; it’s just a teaser trailer for the upcoming movie, The Muppets.

Jason Segel is behind the script and stars in the movie alongside Amy Adams. Noticeably absent from the trailer?: Statler & Waldorf providing a final, biting commentary on how terrible the trailer is. (Hint: it isn’t).

Also making their way around the intertubes this week is a two-part interview of Andy Samberg conducted by none other than Sesame Street resident (and serial co-habitator) Bert. The videos were posted to YouTube from the official Sesame Street account but I can’t really see a child enjoying these as comedy, but maybe I didn’t really understand the parody of Kermit the Frog interviewing “Miami Mice” either.

Whatever the case may be, I think the videos definitely appeal to parents who either currently watch Sesame Street with their kids (or DVR it) or who will potentially do so in the future. I’m in the latter camp and I’m wondering what’s taken me so long.

Either way, enjoy the videos. They may not be the joint Elmo/Ricky Gervais interview from a few years back, but what is?

I think it shows the enduring popularity of the characters Henson created and the ingenuity of the rights holders (CPB & Disney) to use the internet in novel ways.

Enjoy the videos and I hope to see you at the theatre this Thanksgiving!

The Perfect Run

Now that this year’s US 10k Classic has been cancelled I’m really out of sorts.

I don’t run that many organized races – mainly because I like to reserve weekend time for my family – so losing out on a 10k I was really looking forward to running is a bummer.

It’s too late to try to eke out a spot in the Peachtree (unless a kind soul has a number or a lottery entry they’d like to donate).

Instead, I’m just going to be jealous of the folks who ran in the Bay to Breakers race out in San Francisco a few weekends back. Some of them raced in full-on Muppet regalia.

Lucky ducks.

MetaFilter Muppets

In the week following my first post to MetaFilter, I’ve found a really great Muppet-related post: Hand built Muppet Theatre Playset.

I don’t actually blog that much about Muppets here – the blog title is mostly a non-clever URL and a handy username – but Lance Cardinal is the real deal.

Check out the Muppet Theatre Playset and the Muppet Show Backstage Playset he built & modded. The former was built from the scratch and the latter was heavily customized from the original version.

Lance is the real Muppet fanatic. I just like having that Simpsons quote in the blog header.
