First, a firm grasp of the obvious:

I have a blog with “Muppet” in the title.
I do the whole “Separated at Birth” schtick. A lot.
I have great friends & commenters.

Second, a perfect storm (using MATH):

This comment:

Christopher Meloni looks abit like Bert from Sesame(not sure how u spell that) Street, in a kind of cute way.

Plus this email:

I’m sure you’ve already seen it, but I’m assuming this is up your alley on multiple fronts…

Multiplied by my Tumblr entry:

Telly as Zack Braff is my favorite.

Which leads us, logically, to point #3: TMZ’s Celebrity Puppets — Sesame Street Edition

There are a ton of dupes here and a few more misses than hits than I could manage with similar source material, but it’s still worth a look if, you know, Muppets OR “Separated at Birth” shit is your thing. [HINT: they’re both mine].

YMMV, but still, enjoy.

Also, I don’t know that I’ve got this whole “blogging” thing down pat yet or if I’ll ever figure it out but for now I’m putting some things on the wackiness that is Tumblr, some dreck here and even more superfluous linkage and ephemera on Twitter, Flickr and the like. Follow or don’t.

(How’s THAT for an upsell?)

Humpday!

Separated at Birth: Ron Perlman & Tom Waits

Here’s a fun one that dawned on me yesterday after two meetings.
In the first my co-worker couldn’t come up with Ron Perlman’s name.
In the second I ended up singing Tom Waits’ “I Don’t Wanna Grow Up”

The tale of the tape (now with extra pictures!):

I don’t think they’re dead-on ringers or anything, but their voices and personalities seem awfully close.

Minor connections/coincidences: As noted above Perlman was in the movie Romeo Is Bleeding (starring Gary Oldman) which took its name from a Waits song. Oldman and Waits appeared in Dracula one year prior to the release of the film version of Romeo Is Bleeding.

Maybe I should have included Oldman as well. He looks a bit like Waits.

Separated At Birth: Jeri Ryan & Cynthia Watros

I’m not sure there’s enough here, quite frankly, but I’m willing to put (digital) pen to (virtual) page and see who agrees and who dissents.

Both blonde actresses who’ve been on a few popular/cult TV shows, this is basically a comparison of characters: Ryan normally portrays sexy, unattainable women and Watros portrays sexy, attainable, girl-next-door characters.

At least that’s my reading of things. Feel free to agree, disagree or ignore at your leisure.

Separated at Birth: Peter Lorre & Evan Handler

This isn’t a Jack Handy-esque deep thought or anything like that, but I think I’ve been working for TCM a little bit too much/too long.

I now think that Evan Handler – he of “Sex and the City”, “Lost” and “Californication” fame – bears a striking resemblance to the inimitable (and oft-parodied) Peter Lorre.

Visual evidence and all, since obviously the two weren’t separated at birth seeing as how they’re separated by literally decades.

They’re both character actors specializing in slimy and unsavory folks, for sure.
They’ve both suffered from maladies – in the case of Lorre an addiction to morphine and in the case of Handler, Leukemia.
They’re both of Jewish descent.

Still, though, those bald heads both give me pause.

Separated At Birth: Lauren Ambrose & Hillary Tuck

Let me show you something: actresses who look a little bit alike or some such other inconsequential thing.

I’ll cop to reading some gossip blog or another and, noticing a passing resemblance, painted myself into a corner trying to find similar photos.

Redheads often get lumped together, especially those with fair skin and blue eyes, so I feel a bit dirty here.

I don’t think I have ever (or would ever) confuse the two, but their vital statistics and looks speak to that part of me that likes to blog about this sort of thing, which is a trending topic for me recently.

YMMV.
