Since I’m depressed I’m seriously considering the most common form of
therapy available here in the United States: shopping. I’m serious. I
think some good, old-fashioned capitalist consumerism will increase my
self-worth and stop my nagging feelings of emptiness, insecurity and
failure.
And what better product to purchase than the DVD of The Fellowship of the Ring? A mass-marketed piece of entertainment produced by a corporate brethren of my current employer in the great pantheon of the world’s largest entertainment and media company.
