In high school I really dug the song Push Th’ Little Daises by the goof-off band, Ween. I even went so far as to buy their album “Pure Guava”. It was the first CD I bought that carried the parental warning sticker.

Now over a decade later, having listened to that CD all of twice in that time period, I heard their song, Voodoo Lady on 99x. I was on my way to buy stamps and envelopes (exciting) when I heard the line, ” You drive me crazy with that Boogie oogie oogie oogie oogie oogie oogie oogie” coming out of my speakers.

Like some demented approximation, albeit a close one, of early Red Hot Chili Peppers, I couldn’t help but sing along. Ah, memories. It’s that time of year, you know?

  1. How strange. I was overwhelmed with the urge to listen to the Chili Peppers this morning. So that is what I was listening to when I read your post.
