Simplify

This is a complete non sequiter, but shouldn’t Thoreau have taken his own advice? The commonly referenced ‘simplify, simplify’ should just be ‘simplify’, don’t you think?

Our life is frittered away by detail… simplify, simplify.

This one too:

As you simplify your life, the laws of the universe will be simpler; solitude will not be solitude, poverty will not be poverty, nor weakness weakness.

If he mentioned it twice, how simple can simplifying one’s life be? We can’t all uproot ourselves and live by some pond.

Simplify? The word has lost all meaning to me.
