Peanut Butter Battle

In the spirit of Iron Chef, I’m comparing the three big candy bar players in the “Chocholate-covered peanut butter crunch” market segment.

Butterfinger
The crispety, crunchety market leader.
Notable for it’s Simpsons tie-in.
Manufactured by Nestle.
Official site

Fifth Avenue
Creamier and smoother.
A summer favorite of mine at Warren Dunes State Park.
Manufactured by Hershey’s.
Official site

Clark Bar
Somewhere between the Butterfinger and Fifth Avenue.
Plain Jane wrapper and mid-70’s comic book appeal.
Manufactured by Necco.
Official site

In order of preference, my favorites are as follows:
1) Fifth Avenue
2) Butterfinger
3) Clark

Clark bars seem the most natural and old-timey and thus it’s at the bottom of my list. Fifth Avenue is really an amped-up improvement on the Clark’s stylings. Butterfiner is the logical outgrowth of the other two: day-glo orange “peanut butter” crunch center that shatters like glass when bitten.

I gravitate towards the update of the “old favorite” Clark Bar, and thus choose Fifth Avenue. What’s your favorite chocolate and peanut butter confection? Reese’s Peanet Butter Cups or Reese’s Pieces? Peanut or Peanut Butter M&M’s? One of the above? Let me know.
