Brand Atlanta

If you haven’t heard already, the City of Atlanta (does anyone else hear the lilting Spanish accent of Juan Antonio Samaranch?) just plunked down a hefty bit of cash to “rebrand” the city. Apparently, marketing experts have determined that the nouns opportunity, optimism and openness best express the ethos of Atlanta.

Whatever.

Blogger/Podcaster/Man About Town Andisheh Nouraee of My ‘Lanta remixes what he calls “Bland Atlanta” the new red-swoosh and ATL (no ‘ANTA’) logo of the new “brand” for our pleasure.

Funny stuff, but it’s very easy to be critical of something like this. I’m of the opinion that no matter how great or bad this project rolls out, people are going to be making fun of it. And I’ve been skeptical too, but personally I think the logo and the website are actually a pretty good start. I’m looking forward to see what comes next, and if it sucks, I’ll be right there with you hee-hawing it up.

The new Brand Atl theme song is nothing short of hideous …. its enough to make me want to go hide when someone asks me where I live …
