Nanowrimo Progress Report: Week One

Through the first six days of National Novel Writing Month, I have written 3,321 words for my novel, Latyr. Even though I’m 6,681 words off the pace, I’m still confident I’ll reach the 50,000 word finish line.

Inspiring words from the official site:

Rack up some serious words this weekend, everyone! If you can be on pace (10,002 words) by the time you go to bed on Sunday, you’ll be in great shape for Week Two. Consider a thrice-daily approach on Saturday and Sunday, where you do a one-hour writing session in the morning, afternoon, and evening on both days. You’ll be amazed at how quickly (and painlessly) the words add up.

I didn’t follow this advice exactly; I only used my late night hours to write. Still, in two days I managed to write at the required daily pace of 1,667 words. I needed to have been following this pattern the entire week and not just the weekend. I need to make time to write, not find it.

I’ll make it and when I do I’m putting up the novel, Latyr, on the blog.

Plus, today is technically the end of the first week. I can still catch up.

Updates later.

  1. Would that I had your energy. The best advice I’ve ever heard about writing fiction: don’t do it unless you’re willing to give up your entire life.

    Also, don’t forget the recipes.

Good luck on nanowrimo. Ive come down with the flu with only about 3000 words down… plenty of time to catch up…but right now … feel like crap.

    keep it up
