Guitar Hero 2

Okay, so I’m a couple of days late (and several dollars short), but here’s the skinny on the tracklist for Guitar Hero 2. Harmonix released a sub-set of 7 songs from the game:

Drist – “Arterial Black”

The Reverend Horton Heat – “Psychobilly Freakout”

KISS – “Strutter”

Black Sabbath – “War Pigs”

The Butthole Surfers – “Who Was in My Room Last Night”

The Kinks (the Van Halen version) – “You Really Got Me”

And… RUSH – “YYZ”

Apparently, you’ll be able to play them at E3 if you’re attending. Hopefully we’ll hear more news during and after E3 to keep us all sated with guitar goodness.

In the meantime, we’re left wondering what the other songs will be and just how much they’ll rock.

I will say this: I’m a bit disappointed that Harmonix went with the Van Halen version of You Really Go Me, when the Kinks version is so good. Plus, as my own prohibitive Guitar Hero II Setlist shows, there are other Van Halen tracks out there (Running with the Devil, Panama, Hot for Teacher) that would work just as well, if not better.

Still, I love the fact that another Sabbath tune made the cut. At this rate, the entire Paranoid album should be covered by Guitar Hero 9. 😉

Rush and Reverend Horton Heat are inspired and who the Hell is Drist. It sounds remotely like an interstellar fabric softener.

I digress.

Keep on Rockin’! More updates as they occur.

UPDATE: Joystiq, in their continued coverage of E3, has a nice post about the new co-op mode in Guitar Hero 2.

i know this is kinda late, but Drist is a band that one of the producers of the GH game is in. They had a song in the first game too, they’re alright.
