I’m a Muppet Liar

I said I wouldn’t post about Muppets that much, but I have. Recently.
I said “Mostly Muppet” is actually more like “Slightly Fraggle” (though I don’t own the domain.
I said a lot of things I didn’t mean because I’m back at the well this afternoon.

First, a video response to Fozzie’s video from last week, by Rizzo the Rat & Rowlf:

Second, a very enterprising German driver who is flouting the authority of traffic cameras by:

  1. Driving an English car
  2. Posting a life-sized “Animal” doll in the passenger’s (left side) seat

Money, Babies!

The economy sucks.
The bailout will take a while to work (if ever).
The weather is rainy and dreary.

But at least we’ll always have music to lift our spirits, calm our fears and reassure us.

Unless, of course, it’s The Dears’ single Money Babies, which Jenn can’t stop singing on account of its inclusion on the new Paste Magazine sampler.

Music video and lyrics follow:

Video via Perfect Porridge.

Our money is elastic. Our money is elastic. Gotta get milk for the baby and our money is elastic. Decapitative laughter is keeping us alive. Cavalcades of losers, losing their minds. Hoping for disaster. Settin’ off alarms. Amid all of the deranged. Amid all the charmed. Do you remember that time when we thought we were gonna die? Well, baby nothing much has changed. And yet they haven’t been the same since at all. Our money is elastic. Our money is elastic. Gotta get milk for the baby. Gotta get milk for the baby.

It’s more than a little depressing and sobering, but it’s catchy and informative, nonetheless. When’s the last time you kept humming a chorus built around the Economic concept that “Our money is elastic”?

That’s right. Never.

Enjoy the rest of your Friday.

Muppet Thursday

Some happiness and some sadness today. Just the kind of melange of melancholy and joy that makes The Muppets such a unique form of entertainment.

First, new Muppet YouTube goodness:

I’m a sucker for skateboarding bulldogs, Statler & Waldorf.

Next, Big Bird singing “It’s Not Easy Being Green” at Jim Henson’s funeral. You can really hear Carol Spinney struggling to fight back tears a couple of times during the performance:

Have a Muppet-y Thursday

Friday Muppet Goodness

It’s Friday, with an hour left to work.
We’re going to Hilton Head Island, S.C. tomorrow morning, we haven’t done any packing yet and I’m ready for sun, sand & surf.
Time for some links to videos of Muppets.

Hey, it’s no Blues Brothers, but what is?

Here’s the bulleted, Muppet-y goodness:

Have a great time in my absence.

Some blogging & twittering may follow.

Tuesday Video Roundup

NOT a regular thing, just struggling for a metaphor to take my mind off of lazy blogging post-Hawaii.

Here’s what I’m digging today:

Lego is full of Win [Via Wonderland]:

The Diablo III Cinematic and Gameplay videos.

They only make we want to play more video games, especially Diablo II, World of Warcraft and, strangely enough, Spore.

Dr. Horrible’s Sing-A-Long Blog Teaser:

Teaser from Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog on Vimeo.

I’m apologizing after the fact for clogging up my own post with embed videos, but this little blog experiment got me to thinking: what causes someone to embed video?

Are certain kinds of people apt to embed?
Are certain categories of video more embed-friendly?

It also begs the question: why aren’t you embedding video about your favorite TV show or the TV shows of your employer?

Good questions, all.

I seem to favor geeky, game-y and internet comedy videos but maybe those are just my personal preferences. I certainly watched a TON of So You Think You Can Dance & Design Star videos (don’t judge me) in the past week, but did I embed/link/blog them? No.

So anyhow, this is a somewhat lazy post with a message: tell me why you embed and/or deride me for my lack of taste in what I’ve embedded and/or copped to consuming.

G’night!
