Tale of the tape

It’s Friday and I’m lazy, so here’s a fairly rote post on my new computer a Dell Dimension E521:

Processor: AMD Athlon 64 X2 dual-core 4200 2.2 GHz
Harddrive: 320GB Seagate (?)
Video: nVIDIA GeForce 7300 LE 450MHz – 512MB (?) SDRAM – PCI Express x16
Memory: 2GB
OS: Windows XP Media Center Edition (Windows Vista Ready)
Monitor: Nifty, 19-inch DVI flat panel

I haven’t had a new computer in so long, I’m sure I’ve gotten some of this stuff wrong or left out something important. The spec sheet on my personalized Dell Support page is cryptic, that’s why I’m so confused. I’ll update this post tonight from the new PC.

I like the rig thus far, but I’d love it if I could get it to record television (preferably HD).

In the interim, I’ve played a lot of Halo, I plan on playing World of Warcraft and I’ve been moving over all the iTunes music.

Maybe we’ll have our own “year of living digitally” but my main reason for upgrading was the ability to walk and chew bubblegum at the same time. My old PC only wanted to run one application per session.

I’ll keep everyone posted on how it works out for me or whether I plunge into “Dell Hell“.

And before everyone comments (you know who you are) that I should have made the switch, I got the PC cheap through an Air Force deal via my brother-in-law. Money won out this time, but I’m wearing Jenn down.

Next time, I think.
