I first heard about Camera Obscura by watching the credits on Gilmore Girls. Between Lane & Rory’s combined tastes in music and the stunt casting of musical guests by Amy Sherman-Palladino that show was/is the model for good new music on television.

Screw Dawson’s Creek! Gilmore Girls always features the best stuff that would make a much better soundtrack.

Granted, it’s likely to be the same as the stuff you might here on Scrubs or Zach Braff’s next movie, but I’m OK with that.

Anyhow, I managed to get a copy of Underachievers Please Try Harder, Camera Obscura’s most recent CD (at the time, the new one is called Let’s Get Out Of This Country) but it didn’t strike the right chord with me. I don’t know what I was expecting, but it didn’t really leave a mark.

Today, though, comes word that one of their songs, If Looks Could Kill, will be featured on tonight’s Grey’s Anatomy.

As if I’m not already entrenched in that show (Jenn’s self-described favorite show on TV) this is AWESOME.

And talk about another show that uses music well. I need to buy that Grey’s Anatomy soundtrack as well as that Snow Patrol album. Jenn tears up at the mere mention of Chasing Cars.
